Artist's Comments

My first attempt at a satirical movtivational poster, hope you like :)

The pictures, and phrases are all mine, but I must give credit for most of the design (with a little tweaking), and the general idea to [link]

Hehe, well I'm getting by without having to apply more than basic arithmitic so far...

You should point out the only reason someone would NEED all that jargon in their life is, well, if they pursue a career in education so they can teach the very same jargon to a new generation of students. :D

(in which case, the symbolism of a wooden figure might be misleading as it suggests the Arts - with a capital A - or that a teacher is merely a puppet- which is true, but doesn't have much bearing in this context)

Personally I think a more INSIDIOUS analogy for education would be bacterial growth. Because much of it really does exist soley to be perpetuated to be perpetuated to be perpetuated... ^__^

Either way, I can see you put plenty of effort into making this look nice & professional (which is why it's only more crushing to know you didn't hit your mark. :XD: )

I understand what you are saying, however it wasn't exactly the point I was going for. The figure is indeed supposed to represent a robotic, puppet, sort of person (aka a teacher). I was going more for the point that all teachers make a point that everything in their field is critical, and without it you will not grow. A perfect example would be the fact that I completely neglected the fact to take high school level chemsitry a year ago (yay for loopholes in the system). In my two years so far without chemistry, I have not found myself in a dire need for it, in fact, barely at all. The worse that has come from my complete and total lack of chemistry knowledge is I can't understand some of the jokes my physics teacher makes.

Its less of a need for this to be taught again, but rather that it will be applied in your daily life. Of course, the true irony is that most of this stuff is copied right from my calc and computer science notes (and I will be majoring in computer science, so I WILL need that for the rest of my life...).

Thanks for your noteworthy input, those always mean more to me than "Wow nice!" ;)

FAQ#323: How do I get more pageviews?

Sarcasm is my life. No, really, it is.

Ahhh, I think I get it now. ^^ You're saying "Education is applicable ...but at the end of the day you're just one step closer to being a servile puppet for The System." :D

Close enough :) Just go with that

Thats very true, unless you plan on an engineering job or something with a lot of fancy maths involved, the chances are like over 90% of the adult population, the maths you learnt in primary school is more than enough to get you by.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Survival is being able to pull the wool over the wolves' eyes.
Deviousness is convincing the wolves to dress up like sheep so they will eat each other.

hehe, I wish I had wooden teachers.

AFOOT and light-hearted, I take to the open road.

Not true. I do design and i still find some of the fundamental maths in High School useful.

Also not a bad attempt, however the typography needs work, right now it is subtracting from the poster.
